ILB Education offers a range of premium support for schools, parents, children and the community. If you are looking for tutoring for your child you are in the right place. Ian is a very experienced teacher, able to get the very best out of your child in a fun, interactive and interesting way. As well as being an experienced school leader Ian has also worked with colleagues at Local Authority level, and with industry and community partners to raise school standards. Support will be offered on a bespoke basis. It costs nothing to enquire, so please do not hesitate to get in touch. We can also offer a range of quality INSET training for your staff, either for a whole day, or for specific sessions. We will always agree objectives for the training with school leaders in advance, and then work to provide content that is both high quality and effective.
Ian Birkin

Ian is a very experienced educator, having been awarded a PGCE in 1992 and achieving NPQH in 2006. He also has a degree in Business Studies, relevant commercial and industrial experience, and a range of other qualifications. He has a proven track record of working with primary children of all ages, up to and including year 6. He has a record of helping pupils achieve impressive SATs results, an excellent portfolio of testimonials and letters of appreciation from satisfied parents and carers.
He is also an experienced school leader, including in the roles of headteacher and deputy headteacher in schools in the East Midlands. He has successfully led staff training, including in Mathematics / Numeracy, RE, ICT, Geography and working with children with SEND. He has also had lead responsibility for school finances, test data, performance analyses, assessment and staff appraisal. He is fully police checked and has all the necessary Safeguarding checks and certificates in place.
Aside from being a committed and industrious educator, Ian has a wide range of personal interests and commitments. He loves walking in the countryside and is a member of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. He enjoys music and has been the musical director and conductor of a regional choir, as well as a chorister with church choirs, the Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir and Derby A Capella. He is a committed Christian and active member of his church. He is also very interested in computers and technology, currently learning WordPress in his spare time to create this website.
